Why I made this site
Hi, Hello again I'm Angel! There’s not much to say about me that I haven’t said in my about page, I kind of just exist here and this is the first blog post and probably will be uploaded alongside the entire website. It’s been ready since August. AUGUST (of last year... might wanna add).
I worked on it for two months straight and then I got stuck.
I predicted that this would happen eventually but not when it was time to make some actual content. I guess it’s the freedom of being able to speak about whatever I want that keeps me from writing anything at all.
I decided to ask a friend what to do. I think they understood what the problem was because they just gave me a topic and that cleared up the foggy landscape that my brain had become in regards to this project. It became more than just “how I made this site” in my head and it mutated into a “setting the tone” kind of deal.
A picture from the picnic where my friend got me out of my block. lots of thinking to do.
I’ve been wanting to make a blog for ages but it needed to be done EXACTLY how I wanted it to be. Which means It’s the least efficient way I could have approached such a project, it brings its own set of issues along with the little beauties of it but I realized that I don’t care. This isn't supposed to be good, most people will never see this so it’s okay to do whatever I want.
As per the little blurb about the process behind making this website. The hardest part was to start because blank pages magically make me forget everything I ever learnt. In times like this I think of the words one of my web based systems teacher once told me:
“It’s always better to copy something well than to badly make something up.”
Wise words from a guy who I’m not even sure got paid for teaching this stuff back in the day. Greatest lesson I learnt from that course. So I got to copying, well sort of. The first step was to conceptualize the layout which was just a lot of looking at other websites on Neocites, thinking about what I like, what I’d actually use, how I’d make it all happen…
A draft I made of the layout, I was surprised on how similar it turned out!
Then, I actually started copying because the fear of blank pages is still there. To counter it I decided to do the biggest sin according to chronically online people who like art and anime: I looked for a template. (gasp!)
After gutting the thing, figuring things out and learning something new the site was ready! I hope that I will get a lot of use out of it and that it will allow me to challenge myself more and more with time.
I don’t have any ideas of future posts set in stone but it’s going to mostly be everyday matters and hobbies because other than that my life doesn’t have a lot of internet-worthy moments. Expect a LOT of egl fashion centric posts and some guides. A friend made a 30-day egl challenge so I’ll adapt it for the blog! I also want to do the super old 100 egl questions copypasta…
I’ll also talk about games. I don’t play a lot of new stuff but sometimes I find a title that keeps me completely hooked.
That said, I think it's time for me to cease my ramblings.
Bacini bacini, my internet friends!
